Its possible there is some sort of regulation on materials that can be used for mass-production of toys by massive companies vs furries buying fabric for custom art or small run plush production. I'm just guessing tho, I'm certainly not an expert here!

Yes, but I think another factor is honestly that faux fur is inherently not very environmentally friendly, both to produce and once its made (microplastiiiicccsss) and I say this as someone who loves fursuits 😢

thinking about this aaallll the time... I mean the reason is just that its a LOT cheaper to make plush out of minky or other non-faux fur fabrics with embroidered eyes and etc.
