I love theaters and going to movies with friends, I just wish they had subtitles. I mostly watch stuff at home because i have hearing damage and studios can’t seem to mix audio properly.
After the recent joy of Hard Boiled in a packed theater it hit me that one of the tragedies of capitalism’s manifestation of our tech age is that on top of imprisoning us in gilded cages disconnected from shared reality, they are transforming communal experience into an expensive, uncommon novelty.

Ok the more I think about this the less I think it’s dumb, it’s just a very on the nose critique of the military industrial complex - specifically “selective” service, predatory recruitment practices and the lies the government tells us to sacrifice our children and our morals to feed the machine.
The premise is dumb but David Jonsson is amazing. Cooper Hoffman too.
