I believe this is the first time the phrase “the GLOBE AND MAIL gagged” has appeared on the internet. But I suppose it did.

Pedestrian struck by motorist on Parkside a block from the speed camera that vigilantes kept tearing down that caused ford to remove them from all Ontario. Drive as you wish Ontario. Nobody matters. This is what you voted for.

Wait, these guys are back? Instantly heard “when you've got the munchies, nothing else will do, Hostess Potato Chips” in my head.

This afternoon, I informed the Prime Minister of my decision to resign as Minister of Canadian Identity and Culture, Minister responsible for Official Languages, Minister of Nature and Parks Canada, as well as his Lieutenant in Quebec.

You can find my full statement below.

So many weird obsessions in here like that you couldn't serve kosher food to a whole daycare or wear a niqab to a parent-teacher conference. One person can pray in a park but not three together?
Doesn't the CAQ have any real problems to work on in Quebec?

Oh, it's nearly the end of the month so time use up some gift links...
Here's my review of Heated Rivalry (Crave; HBO Max), some queer Canadian hockey smut that's part of a national psyop to destabilize America during its thanksgiving weekend. www.theglobeandmail.com/gift/e60f469...
Crave’s Heated Rivalry is hot as h-e-double-hockey-sticks Canadian television

You’re damn right. Home girl Vanessa Sears can do ANYTHING.
& Juliet's lead role might just be the hardest in musical theatre. With an F3-F#5 vocal range, hours of difficult choreo and a complex emotional bent, Juliet is a beast.

But if anyone can slay her, it's Vanessa Sears.

& Juliet’s title role is one of the hardest in musical theatre. Vanessa Sears is up to the challenge
The lead role in & Juliet requires a two-and-a-bit-octave range and memorizing hours of choreography

Weekend watching thoughts on (a taste of) Wong Kar-wai's 30-ep TV series Blossoms Shanghai, the remastered Beatles Anthology, and A Paw Patrol Christmas - which has been on constant rotation in my house. www.theglobeandmail.com/culture/film...
What to watch: The Beatles in their own words (again) and a Wong Kar-wai series debuts
Also two offerings from Ireland: a coming-of-age story and a reality TV hit

My pet theory is that the root cause of much of the insanity in the US is that it makes most families travel across the country to have an intense meal together twice within a month. Space those major holidays out!

I'm enjoying following this Bluesky thread.
Among the shows mentioned, The Odyssey was a fave as a kid - I dreamt about it for year - and I watched a lot of You Can't Do That on Television.
I think if Canada wants to have a strong cultural identity we need to go back to doing what we're best at, making the weirdest fucking TV shows you've ever seen

I think Lisa Fitterman is the only journalist who's interviewed the legendary mobster Gerry Matticks so it's fitting she wrote his obit.
The youngest of 14 siblings from Goose Village. Cops were so desperate to nab him they planted evidence -- and got caught.

A fast-talking folk hero known as Big Gerry, he headed the city’s West-End Gang, a criminal conglomerate with ties to the Mafia and the Hells Angels

On HBO Max in the US and Australia Friday too. Big moment for smutty and smart queer Canadian hockey content.
