"Owned a home in the U.S. for 30 years": I try not to look down on others, but the people who swallowed the bait that he'd only deport 'bad hombres' and 'criminals' have a gullibility so intense that it warrants study by science, if only this country still did that.
ICE deported a woman who owned a home in the US for 30 years. A judge banned ICE from deporting her to Sierra Leone where she had been tortured, so it deported her to Ghana, which kidnapped her and sent her back Sierra Leone anyway. ICE is part of this illegal conspiracy.

The senators are angered by Schumer & Gillibrand's lack of endorsement of Zohran Mamdani, and their handling of open seat Senate races.

They believe leadership is quietly pushing donors toward specific candidates: Angie Craig in Minnesota, Haley Stevens in Michigan, and Janet Mills in Maine.
Wow — Senators Van Hollen, Smith, Murphy, Sanders, Warren, Markey, Merkley, Heinrich have created an official internal "Fight Club."

They're challenging Schumer & Gillibrand's leadership, arguing the party is using an old, corporate-friendly playbook insufficient to take on Trump or win elections.

Big reminder that Good Game No Rematch is on sale for more than half off on Amazon right now for their Black Friday sale.

Perfect for anyone you know who loves video games. Or if you’re vaguely aware that a family member enjoys technology and jokes, it’s a decent swing.

It's weird to not only have lived through an information revolution but also now living through its undoing, all within less than a generation.
Google at its peak was basically the best information retrieval system in human history and they and every competitor decided going from there to “you didn’t want answers you wanted half-assed auto-complete 80%-wrong hallucinations” in a few years was the right idea

This is FASCINATING to me because the book was written in 1958 and seems to presage “is such-and-such a ‘real game’ argument of the past 40 years. Yes! Chance is play and skill is play and role playing is play and emotional catharsis is play. It’s all valid!!

They were nice enough to give me a free code for this bonkers typing game and I loved it so much that I had to write about it. It’s like Streets of Rage meets Mario Teaches Typing. Silly and fun and nails the feel of every correctly-typed letter feeling like a punch. The dad joke mode is a dream.

My hot take is that over the next 10 years, we're going to see more emphasis on and investment in the humanities at Ivy League and other fancy schools just as state schools and small privates continue to decimate and even eliminate the humanities.
"While other universities report that the humanities are shrinking, at Berkeley, the opposite is true. The music major is the fastest-growing major on campus. We are finding bigger classrooms because film is exploding. English is back to the numbers we saw 15 years ago. We are hiring" bit.ly/4ohKuOe
"The humanities really are a resource — a confidence for living in our times.” Dean Sara Guyer on the modern utility of humanities degrees

Okay he may cause mass death and suffering, he may have destroyed the lives of many people who loved him, but you can’t deny the irresistible charm of a man whose sexts sound like an AI prompt for “handwritten novel you find in your grandmother’s desk drawer after she dies”
