We're not here to endorse or not endorse a candidate. But as an organization committed to ending antisemitism and protecting democracy in the U.S., we are deeply concerned by the recent conversation around Zohran Mamdani.

Here is our statement:
Overheated and Sensationalized Attacks on Zohran Mamdani Damage Political Discourse, Harm Jewish Community
“The attacks on Zohran Mamdani in New York City’s mayoral race have crossed the line from principled critique and disagreement into something

We must be clear-eyed: this is just the beginning. True peace will require building bridges, not deepening divisions. We urge all stakeholders to approach the next phases of this process with good faith, recognizing that sustainable peace is the only way forward.

Every life saved through this agreement matters. We firmly hope that this agreement will proceed past its first phase, to ensure an end to the war and humanitarian devastation.

The release of all remaining hostages and the cessation of violence offer incredible relief to families who have endured unimaginable anguish and to communities devastated by two years of war.

We will not remain silent when government power is weaponized against civil society organizations. Fighting antisemitism, protecting democracy, and defending civil society are intertwined tasks—the Trump Administration’s assault on organizations monitoring extremism threatens all three.
nexusproject.bsky.social
The Nexus Project has philosophical and strategic differences and disagreements with the ADL. But those disagreements do not in any way lessen our outrage and alarm at the Trump Administration’s attacks on these organizations' very legitimacy.

This is the textbook playbook of authoritarian governments: delegitimize watchdog organizations by inverting their purpose, painting monitors of extremism as extremists themselves.

When an FBI Director characterizes a century-old Jewish civil rights organization as "functioning like a terrorist organization," he establishes a precedent that any civil society group monitoring extremism can be labeled a threat to national security by those in power.

It establishes a precedent: any group documenting extremism can be painted as dangerous by those in power. That is how democracies hollow out from within.

This is an assault on the infrastructure of American civil society and shows the administration clearly aligning itself with far-right extremists who routinely excuse and promote antisemitism.

When the government labels Jewish watchdog groups as a threat, it’s not an attack on just one organization. This comes alongside allegations by Elon Musk that the ADL “hates Christians,” and calls from right-wing extremists to designate the Southern Poverty Law Center as a terrorist organization.

True security comes from communities standing together against antisemitism and all forms of hatred - not from fear and division. The fight against antisemitism is inseparable from the defense of democracy itself.

To help counter this threat, we will continue to call for enhanced security for Jewish institutions, implemented in partnership with Jewish communities, and sustained efforts to build solidarity across all communities.

This attack - targeting Jews on their holiest day - is a stark reminder that antisemitism remains a deadly threat around the world.

The Nexus Project condemns the deadly terrorist attack at Manchester's Heaton Park Hebrew Congregation during Yom Kippur services. Our hearts are with the victims, their families, and the entire Jewish community. We stand with them in solidarity in the face of hate and tragedy.

This is anti-Muslim racism, pure and simple. How sad that an American Jew chooses to post this on the eve of Yom Kippur.

. Her entire selling point for why people should vote for her is “I’m a Palestinian refugee.” This is completely un-American.

America has been invaded by Muslims.

This authoritarian crackdown has done nothing to make Jewish Americans safer - on the contrary, it’s endangered our democracy and harmed our community.

As many of you probably know, X is a hotbed for antisemitism.

Bravo to our friends @thejcpa.bsky.social and @counterhate.com on their important new report on antisemitism on X, which finds that the platform is failing to adequately address the spread of antisemitism.

Our CEO @amyspitalnick.bsky.social in @cnn.com on our new joint report with @counterhate.com documenting how X, formerly Twitter, has become one of the most effective tools for spreading antisemitism in history.
Graphic featuring a CNN news clipping. Headline reads: “Musk’s X is ‘go-to platform’ for antisemitism, study finds.” Below is a photo of a smartphone with the X app open on the screen. Quoted text says: “Antisemitic conspiracy theories and hate that were once fringe have been wholly normalized – thriving in plain sight and amplified by X’s failure to live up to its own policies,” said Amy Spitalnick, CEO of the Jewish Council for Public Affairs. At the bottom is the JCPA (Jewish Council for Public Affairs) logo.

JD Vance invoking "blood libel" is dangerous and wrong. He is using a term with a specific, horrific history tied to centuries of antisemitic violence.

Weaponizing it for political attacks undermines the fight against actual antisemitism.

Here’s JD Vance accusing Democrats of “blood libel” against ICE agents.

Historically, blood libel referred to the false claim that Jews murdered Christians to use their blood in rituals.

Dangerous language on every level.
