NHL injury summary through 25 October
Screenshot-unfriendly example of the net injury chart ($-weighted), i.e. game-by-game injury "gap" between team and opponent
Example injury "stack" for the Atlantic division
Most (not quite all) interactive charts for 25/26 are now up and running on the site. Updated through 25 October as it stands and usually weekly from now on. Link in bio.

Example MGL plot for the Kraken here
Impressive work by the Sabres to have had 11 different players miss at least a game to injury/illness through their first nine games
RBA now helpfully defining his own “extended period /while” for me and everyone else

Brind’Amour on the injuries:

Miller: “around the corner”
Slavin: “still a little ways away.”
Robinson and Carrier: Neither need surgery; “When I say a while, for me, a while is a week, missing four games … it's gonna be more than that.”
Injury rate was still high but total was inflated by Covid protocol numbers
NHL injury frequency through each team's first 8 games (and projected to 10 games) compared to the previous 24 seasons

Running well ahead of average, with only the Covid-affected 20/21 and 21/22 seasons appreciably higher (though 22/23 was also around the same as this year)

NHL injury summary through 25 October
Brind’Amour’s idea of an extended period is typically way shorter than everyone else’s, so I’ll reserve judgment
Brind'Amour says Carrier and Robinson will be out for an "extended period"
Pretty durable ever since!
That should say more than one D or as many as two
If you count Gardiner as retired in 22/23, the Canes had precisely *one* regular season game with more than two D out injured/ill in the 22/23, 23/24 and 24/25 seasons (Game 80 in 23/24, Chatfield and Pesce)

Did happen three more times in the 24/25 playoffs
First time the Canes have had three defensemen missing to injury/illness since Game 59 of the 21/22 season (DeAngelo, Gardiner, Smith)
The Canes were already missing Jaccob Slavin and Shayne Gostisbehere on the blue line, but K'Andre Miller is also a late scratch.

That's half of the defense corps.

The #Avs, who went the first 45-ish games of last season before facing one team with worse injury issues, know what this feels like.
