Our new paper is out led by @lauriewroe.bsky.social & with Delphine Peace on learning from #Contextualsafeguarding Across Borders with refugee young people in Germany. Interesting to be bilingual researcher on the project - reminder of how language/trajectories shape contexts & concepts.

I recently came upon this qualitative systematic review on Systems Leadership open-research-europe.ec.europa.eu/articles/5-6 by @paulcairney.bsky.social and Claire Toomey - found it really helpful and insightful.

Not a good outcome for addressing the climate crisis or social justice issues; instead more Fortress Europe building & blaming refugees/migrants = enabling the far right. My only 'hopium' are young women's voting tendencies, suggesting many realise what's at stake for human and planetary futures 🌈🌈🌈

I know we all love a dose of hopium, especially now. But the take, which I see all across here, that the far right was defeated in Germany tonight because 80% of Germans voted for other parties is very misleading and unhelpful. Understanding this really matters. 🧵

I don’t want to repeat what I’ve already shared in my thread yesterday, but as more and more data become available, I must stress again how misleading it is to say 80% of Germans voted against the AfD and that the far right was defeated comprehensively. Let me show you some new data to illustrate. 🧵

Yesterday, the Government posted shocking footage of people being taken from detention centres - by force - and put on deportation flights.

This act of performative cruelty gives rise to racism and could have dangerous consequences.

Labour have changed the rules on applying for British citizenship to prevent most refugees from *ever* getting it, if they arrived by small boat or entered using forged documents, for any reason, on the basis that it means they’re permanently not “of good character”.

How can we engage children and young people with climate change and the environment - and what are the sustainability issues that matter to them? 💚

Our workshop today, hosted with @sussexcircy.bsky.social, addressed these questions.

Hard to say which is the worst aspect of the CDU’s putrid behaviour here, but Merz telling us that a racist policy isn’t bad just because racists support it is probably the one

Didn't take long for the German "Christian"-"centre"-right #CDU under Friedrich #Merz to go "right-far-right", right after the formality of Holocaust memorial #migrationisahumanright

In the determination of states to prevent people fleeing war and persecution the opportunity of safety they are removing protections for everyone by emboldening and main steaming far right ideology. This will come back and bite people, hard.

“Pine Grove (fire camp) carries on this unique legacy of labor exploitation, employing teenage boys and young men — many of whom have been incarcerated for a significant portion of their youth — to do life-threatening work that serves communities they haven’t had a chance to be part of as adults.”

Light Catching
#WinterSolstice

Let us go light catching.
There are places where there are great shafts of it.

and nets lie idle waiting for the Catchers to come.
Light Catching
Let us go light catching. There are places where there are great shafts of it.
and nets lie idle waiting for the Catchers to come.
Let us go light catching.
Let us cease our angry wrestling with angels and demons for a while, and watch it play in these places, low and long.
Let us go light catching, cabbage white, meadow blue.
And let us be bright, as the light flutters by.
For the time for light harvest is come and good work needs tortoise

On this International Migrants Day, we dream of a world where everyone has the right to remain where they want to be – not because they are “deserving”, not because they are made “vulnerable”, not because they are “exceptional”, but because they love, they live and they are human.

Literally crying hearing how French women applaud Gisele Pelicot every day as she walks out of court. #r4today

Everywhere around the world women watch & applaud her bravery too. She stood up for all of us.

Because the shame has to switch sides.

Not sure these hit the mark but assume you've looked at chapters in International SW and the Radical Tradition (2007) & Social Work’s Histories of Complicity and Resistance (2023). Also, more broadly, the SW history network hosted at King's?
