I am trying to stage an intervention and convince Andrew Cuomo that even at this late hour he still has many life options besides the one he is choosing. He could do anything. He could join a cloistered monastic order and never be heard from again!

People often ask me when I'm going to write a book.

For years, the answer I have given is: "When I find a story consequential enough and gripping enough that it warrants a book-length treatment."

Well.

Kind of a big deal that @hellgatenyc.com can confirm that NYC First Deputy Mayor Randy Mastro used his position to cancel Kehlani's SummerStage concert in order to punish the artist for their political speech on Palestine:

To be sure, @hellgatenyc.com has had our differences with the Cuomo campaign.

But when Rich Azzopardi told us this story was Pulitzer material, we took it to heart.

As Hell Gate's finance chair, I have signed off on the $75 prize nomination fee.

Now we wait.

Bail reform not only made New York more just, it also literally made it safer.

Too bad our elected leaders, public safety officials, and the overwhelming majority of the press are so deeply invested in a narrative entirely divorced from empirical reality.
