Three decades after legislation pushed for the return of Native American remains to Indigenous communities, many top U.S. museums and universities still have the remains of thousands of people in their collections.

Use our database to check on institutions near you (last updated Jan. 2025):

"The Trump administration has proposed cutting funding for tribal colleges and universities by nearly 90%, a move that would likely shut down most or all of the institutions created to serve students disadvantaged by the nation’s historic mistreatment of Indigenous communities."
Trump Wants to Cut Tribal College Funding by Nearly 90%, Putting Them at Risk of Closing
ProPublica found that Congress was underfunding tribal colleges by a quarter-billion dollars per year. Rather than fixing the problem, proposed federal funding cuts unveiled this week would devastate ...

The information space has taken a sharp rightward shift. Facebook and Instagram de-emphasize political content. CNN went center right, and many major papers are only now beginning to cover trump negatively. The news of the chaos is not reaching the majority of voters.
This post will generate angry responses, insults. etc. But important info here. Outside the coasts/Beltway, it appears that SOME of what Trump is doing is generating support, is popular with his base. Politically complicates situation for Dems too. www.cbsnews.com/news/trump-a...

Also: the naked contempt these companies have for their customers is truly repulsive. This is the time that the tech media should be up in arms and screaming at Meta! We are at the point where measurably harmful things are happening and there's still this bland, "well that happened" reporting
RTCs are also just logistically infeasible in these cases. These aren’t new medications. We know what they do to development, and in a short amount of time it becomes quite obvious who has taken the placebo or not. Lasic for the double blind study.
It is also important to highlight that we are not in the same environment as we were when the Dutch study was conducted. Australian researchers have shown significant negative effects on mental health from anti-trans media coverage, which there is a lot more of now: jamanetwork.com/journals/jam....
Negative Media Coverage as a Barrier to Accessing Care for Transgender Children and Adolescents

Also, "the UK banned it" is not an argument. They also did Brexit. Should we try that too?
WaPo should have higher standards.
The author complains about a lack of randomized control trials and rigor in youth transition care, and then immediately cites a non randomized non peer reviewed observational study as evidence. Also, no change can be perceived as positive since dysphoria can worsen with development.

I used to think I didn’t like musicals.

Then the pandemic happened and I watched Singin’ in the Rain.

Then I watched so many musicals.

Turns out I was a fool.

Anyway I really loved Wicked.

This is a real tragedy. We’re quickly losing platforms for experimental audio work.
Regarding the cancellation of Short Cuts by @bbcradio4.bsky.social : "This is yet another radio crime. One that follows on after so many hits to the creative audio community over the last few years. My radio heart is crushed. Again."

Reactionary content doesn’t need controversy to generate clicks; people will share articles with shocking headlines anyway, and if the paper is right wing they’ll write the “woke mob attacking us” post anyway. Leaving those ideas uncontested makes them seem popular.
That was more common in the buzzed era and is only one model out of many. Many of the topics these pieces focus on already have built in audiences who share and comment on them, with or without pushback, so the engagement is already there. If there’s no pushback, bad opinions seem like consensus.
I disagree with AOC on this one. Not engaging with bad ideas makes it look like they’re uncontested. I think the trick is to respond, but to not accept their framing of things in your response.
We saw how the millennials shanked each other on twitter and didn’t want a part of it.
Id have to see the specific content you’re referencing. It can be that, but botted accounts often need to build up a post and engagement history so they dont get filtered. A new account posting only political content is pretty sus, so they need to switch it up.

Both explanations can be valid.
