Auschwitz was at the end of a process. We must remember that it did not start from gas chambers.

This hatred gradually developed: from ideas, words, stereotypes & prejudice through legal exclusion, dehumanization & escalating violence... to systematic and industrial murder.

Auschwitz took time.

It's an old joke, but if you phone up your local cinema to find what time they're showing Melania - The Movie they'll ask what time can you make it.
Not a single seat for any of the 14 showings has been sold at Vue in Castleford - I checked.

Chris Mason calling Braverman a ‘big beast’ once again fails to understand political context. The tory party has been devoid of talent, intelligence, and nous since Johnson stripped it out in 2019. In other times Braverman, like Jenrick, might have reached the heady heights of PPS. #torydefections

Who’s next? Patel? Philp? Plenty more odious tories who would fit admirably into ReformUK.

Trump is irrational and unreasonable. You can’t reason with the unreasonable. It’s like explaining “no ice cream” to a toddler.

Newark has an unfortunate history with its MPs. #Jenrick

ReformUK is no more of a centre-right party than was the BNP or National Front. #Jenrick

#Jenrick; promoted way beyond his abilities due to shortage of Tory talent. Cannot even properly organise his own defection.
Never did like the cut of his jib.

Revisited a countryside craft I learnt through BTCV 38 years ago. Not perfect, but I hope my newly-laid hedge will thrive and provide a habitat for nesting birds. #hedgelaying

First impression of #Traitors is that it’s in danger of becoming another Big Brother. Too much shrieking, too much back story, too many people who want to become ‘influencers’.

I know it’s a celebrity do, but couldn’t the contestants on Mastermind at least have some knowledge of their respective specialist subjects?
I presume they were paid handsomely to appear. They should be so ashamed that they should donate their fee to their charity.

Came downstairs to find a ReformUK leaflet through my letterbox.
Have fumigated everything within 6 feet, but can’t seem to get my hands properly clean.

#Nuremberg - a must-see film. So many interesting characters, such captivating acting. A new look at a fairly well-known theme.

Powerful piece by @drrachelclarke.com on the COVID inquiry. Those who say it’s easy to be wise in hindsight are being utterly disingenuous. Many of us spoke out at the time, and it’s in the public record.

When they say Trump calling a reporter "piggy" is "just being honest," they are revealing a key feature of the reactionary mind: it believes, at a deep brainstem level, that *everyone* is awful & selfish & ugly on the inside. Everyone just suppresses it out of fear of social disapproval. Not Trump!

A pilgrimage to visit John Peel’s grave. Brought back memories from the 60s and 70s of John’s influence on my music taste which still remains.

We’ve had a fabulous few days in Suffolk. Stayed in Woodbridge (The Cherry Tree - great pub). Poked around Framlingham to find #thedetectorists locations, then some time at Orford (Riverside Cafe), and to coast at Slaughden where the sea was spectacular, and there’s a Martello Tower.

The Celebrity Traitors - why oh why do the faithfuls not analyse previous voting patterns. Those are the clearest indicators of who are the traitors.
