My grand finale tonight. An image I've dreamed of capturing ever since being a young boy in the 1960s. The iconic Horsehead Nebula. It's taken 4 months since buying the SeestarS50 for the time, location and seeing conditions to be right.

Very happy with this. 😊🎉🔭

Both are excellent brews. The Adnams Suffolk Bitter is a favourite of mine and one I always try and pick up in M&S in town. Enjoy 🍻

Beer O'Clock here: Those that know me from 'the other place' might remember my wingman, Old Cloth Ears who went 🌈 last year, missed greatly. Seen here below on the left. Bob, on the right, now keeps me company now and again 😊🍻🐈‍⬛

He's a great guy, he organised and drove the new brewing apprenticeship scheme about 6 years ago. Shame to see some of the outlets have lost their brew kits but that's how things pan out sadly. The one in Chelmsford is very good and brewer, Rhys, has won a SIBA award for one of his brews, Roger.

This is an infographic explaining the chemistry behind nanotechnology in a few consumer products, including silver nanoparticles for antimicrobial uses, titanium dioxide and zinc oxide nanoparticles in sunscreens, carbon nanotubes in sports equipment and quantum dots in televisions.

We (me, a Frenchman and a Scot) had many a decent whisky, on business trips, not only in India but also in Pakistan where we had to sign for it in the hotel as being for medicinal use 😄🥃

Well, this is one of the most utterly fabulous things I've seen in a very long time 😍

*BIG NEWS*
We’re thrilled to share that long-standing local hospitality group World Famous Dive Bars is acquiring Good Chemistry Brewing from later this month. You probably know their venues – they include Mothers’ Ruin, The Colosseum and the recently-re-opened Croft.

Busy day and early start. Got woken at 5.30am by Sid 🐈‍⬛ washing my nose and dribbling in my left ear 🙄 Ended up in Tescos at 6am with about a dozen other early risers. Came home and got lunch prepped and into the slow cooker, partridge in a Spanish based recipe. Then bought 4 cases of wine for Xmas 🙂

Good day in Burton with the Cask Marque assessor's. Nice to see so many old friends and industry faces again. Managed 7/7 in the sensory training session and 6/7 in the assessment which is done at 50% less concentration than the training. Slipped up on lactic. Lots of news on the CM training side 🙂🍻

After an enjoyable afternoon yesterday visiting a number of pubs in Burton, it's off to the Punch Academy for our Cask Marque Assessor meeting. We'll have our sensory skills tested identifying #beer taints & faults. There will be some industry news and updates no doubt.

Working hard for #caskale 🍻

Good morning, a much brighter sunnier start to the day here. Heading to Burton later ahead of our Cask Marque assessor's meeting tomorrow.

Not been there since I was Trustee and Vice Chairman of SIBA back in 2015. Looking forward to visiting a few favourite old haunts ☺️🍻

Saturday Beer O'Clock and some light reading. Was trying to track down some info on reduction of CO2 footprint in malting process and subsequent reduction in CO2 footprint of beer. Found it 🙂.

Cheers 🍻

If, like me, you're staring at a huge glut of apples and wondering what to do with them, might I suggest trying a few of the apple-based historical fruit recipes that I've collected over the past few years?

Some absolutely delicious apple dishes described here:
