This article is positively hilarious. 18F and USDS *WERE* the elite go-to places for exactly the talent he's describing. Until his boy Elno burned both organizations to the ground. Dingbat.

"What sets Kupor’s efforts to attract tech talent apart from his predecessors' is the fact that they come after sweeping cuts pushed by DOGE. ... The entire 18F office at the General Services Administration ... was laid off in the spring."
How Trump’s OPM director wants to attract tech talent after months of workforce cuts

This is also the worst job market I've personally seen, in over 25yrs. I had to submit hundreds of resumes, before landing my current job a year ago—and in the past, I only ever submitted maybe a dozen. Yes, I work in tech, but I've heard the same sentiment from folks in other markets as well.

For older white women the job market is hideous. It took me two years to land my current job. TWO. YEARS. Another friend who's Latinx, is interviewing with my company—and she's been on the market, almost as long. AI is screwing-up all the things that racism and sexism aren't.

Anyone that committed to ruining the joy of others cannot like themselves that much, either. And yet, their commitment to White cishet monoculture only shapes climates of harm for others, not themselves.

Even though I love shootin' stuff and blowin' things up like my colonist brethren, it really brings down a sunny day in the country like almost nothing else to hear random outbursts of firepower. Pow, pow, pow, pow—no more birdies, my back tightens up.

I had a foldable titanium spork, until TSA confiscated it. Yes, a damn spork! Copper, I cannot see tasting well; and they very easily patina, which I really cannot see tasting well. Danky dark-brown not a good look on silverware.

If that little man really wants to call a few adults in furry suits playing ukuleles a "terrorist mob," ok. Can Black college students in the South get that kinda protections from lynchings, or just ICE officials butthurt by the PDX welcome wagon for international-law abiding refugees?

4 quarts of canned apples, 6 quarts of frozen peaches, and 14 pints of canned chicken stock leftover from earlier in the week. ~3k steps to do all of that—which feels incredibly dystopian to care about, but for a day mostly spent in my kitchen, that feels impressive!
White quartz counter atop cherry wood cabinets, shot from above, packed with the mess of prepping apples to can.

We’re thrilled that Egyptian writer and technologist Alaa Abd El Fattah is finally free and at home with his family. But we must remain vigilant: Alaa must be allowed to travel to the UK to be reunited with his son Khaled. www.eff.org/deeplinks/2...

Looking at world history from the past few thousand years, greed, power, and an accrual of material wealth are our weak spots. Capitalism is but a tiiny spark of a flash in only one pan.

TIL “Ochlocracy” is a Greek term for a government by a mob who have become unruly, irrational, and lawless. It is the degenerate form of democracy, where people no longer guided by reason or virtuous leaders become easily manipulated by demagogues who appeal to their passions and prejudices.
