Police in Airdrie, Alberta (just north of Calgary) say this driver hit a 17-year-old girl in a marked crosswalk, got out of the vehicle, and appeared to get upset at the teenager before driving away.

They released this video and are now trying to identify the driver.

Sadly, no! Only what I spotted while passing—the main structural component was tubing at the leading edge of the wings, and the tubes appeared to mount toward the top of the shoulder blades. I’m imagining a harness that goes around each arm and has some sort of spring action to adjust angle.

I make my own vegan meats using vital wheat gluten and tofu, so I’m probably not in-touch with what’s actually realistic re: the average American. But I bet if Fox News viewers were told they needed to eat tofu to save farmers, it’d be a net positive for everyone.

I sometimes think the internet is similar to cars. It lets us do a whole host of things that we think we want to do but can’t be trusted to do safely, and that our brains aren’t really suited for to begin with.

“Why haven’t you banned this asshole?” Sadly, being an asshole is allowed. “But they’re morally repugnant!” I agree, but you really don’t want tech companies deciding morals. “They harassed me!” Online harassment has specific definitions that they knowingly skirted. See above re: being an asshole.

And let me be clear: I mean mass-market social media content moderation. Warts and all. It builds character, trust me. It also teaches you a lot about humanity and why the internet is like this that you probably didn’t want to know.

It’s fair to say that bigotry (even dumb, imaginary bigotry) is gross. I also think it’s a waste of time responding to the folks inventing it re: AI and AI users to point that out.

It’s just a massively stupid situation. Surely we have other things to do—like read about gay fungus monsters. 😜
