Johan Pasch the Elder, The Hen Picture (Hönstavlan), 1747, Oil on canvas, 72.5 x 88 cm (Nationalmuseum, Stockholm). There is an explanation to this painting, but it's probably better without one. #c18th

Small relief depicting the Genii Cucullati (the Hooded Spirits) which was found in one of the vicus buildings at Housesteads Roman Fort on Hadrian’s Wall. The relief was probably a family shrine, and is on display in the site museum. 📸 My own. #ReliefWednesday #RomanBritain
@garybembridge.bsky.social Welcome to Bluesky! My partner and I enjoy watching your channel and using it as a guide for our trips. What are some less common cruise ports you’d recommend? We recently went on a Japan cruise and it was unforgettable. #travel

Back in June, I biked to the far northwestern point of the Isle of Lewis, Outer Hebrides, to see a very special place

At Uig in 1831 the famous Lewis Chessmen were discovered in coastal dunes. Made of walrus-ivory they are Norwegian, C12th AD. This great carving of the king now stands close by 🤩

A VICTORIAN MERMAN

Objects like this were often made from the torsos of monkeys and the tails of fish. They were displayed by showmen like P. T Barnum to audiences who believed they were real. This particular one is on display at the Horniman Museum, London. #skystorians #histmed #histsci
If allowed would you be able to share my post with the community if you think the subject matter may be of interest? I have not seen much on the history of patient newspapers or occupational therapy history. Thank you. @drlindseyfitz.bsky.social #histmed
