Confession - I googled to see if the claims of the poem were true (I won't spoil it for you)

This, from Helen Mort's Division Street, is a moment of light balancing out the darker poems in the collection

She has a post on her substack about how the poem was written

not sure where to begin,
i split—
split,
a thousand times split—
how i l o s e breath
to let go,
to arc against wind,
to trust the sky—

to break the heart, and it’s always
the heart,
the fluttering slip of life
that wrecks me.

I really love writing highly allusive poems, with references that reward the knowledgable, since a poem can only get so long before the hatchet is called for. But there's always the question it begs, "Will my poem stand on its own for those not in the know?" Well, I try, anyway. #poetry

As I don't have the money or know-how for self-hosting on Wordpress, I'm currently using www.writerscafe.org/sea2sea as my personal website. The website kinda sucks, there's no traction and a lot of spam-messagers, but hey, it's free, and you get what you pay for. #poetry #writing #poetrysky

Maria Corina Machado is one of the most evil people in existence I'm aware of right now. The maniacal grinning and sheer glee as she sells out her countrymen to Trump for a chance at power really amazes and disgusts me.

The last half of this paragraph reads like something one of the characters on 30 Rock would write while trying their hand at the next Great American Novel
when the full Olivia Nuzzi book streets Bluesky is going to collectively experience something akin to the ecstasies of the Bacchae

It's nauseating watching the most powerful women in the country smugly play the sex card endlessly rather than even once accept accountability. Kamala lost because because she ran a conservative campaign on a liberal ticket. Trump won because he ran a conservative campaign on a conservative ticket.
