Isn’t that how everyone checks their library loans 😉

I don't think I will ask 😬

My after work on Friday treat matches my book this week!
📚💙 #BookSky 🐧
A copy of the book "The Penguin Book of Penguins" with a Penguin chocolate bar on top.
The book is orange with a cream stripe down the middle with a stylised penguin illustration. The chocolate bar is in a green wrapper and resting on the book

Many thanks to @biggreenbooks.bsky.social and @lnr.bsky.social for my #BuyAStrangerABook post - now I’ve wrestled it off of Mr Norfolkbookworm I’ve really enjoyed @tomgauld.bsky.social Physics for Cats this afternoon

Tom Gauld’s book Physics For Cats. The book is a purple hardback with a black cloth spine and an Escher style shape with black cats on

Attended an absolutely brilliant event about the #menopause this evening. @norfolklibrariesuk.bsky.social provides a friendly and welcoming space to share experiences and get help from an expert.
My main takeaway is just how much bad information and gaslighting takes place.
Food for thought

Hope you feel better soon and enjoy the book!

Going out out this evening so took a walk before the weather fully brightened up. The sun did come out half way round which was cheering and the antics of the squirrels were very amusing.
The one good habit we've kept from Covid times is making sure we have a walk every day.🐿️

Hi @biggreenbooks.bsky.social can I repay the kindness of others who’ve brought me a book on #buyastrangerabook day?
Up to £15?

Will PayPal it over now.

It was perfect for us, we were on the beach until about 5pm and then picked up to go to the wedding location at 6.30!
It was just us, the mayor/celebrant and the travel rep as witness! Oh and some goats wandering past

Oooo I’m glad to see someone else like this - it really made me feel like I was in Greece and catches the emotional link I have to the country, although for me this is because Mr Norfolkbookworm and I sloped off their to get married in secret.

Huge thanks to whoever talked about or recommended Barbara Isn’t Dying by Alina Bronsky, tr. Tim Mohr from @europaeditions.bsky.social

I wasn’t sure for the longest time reading it but what a book, and one that needs reading carefully to catch all the hints & nuances.

Thanks for sharing this, I go past the church several times a week and had noticed that the for sale board had flipped to sold.
Pleased it will remain accessible as it is such an interesting building

I need your help!!! We’ve got some stunning merch for Legenda coming up, but can’t decide on the quotes. Which do you think? If you comment and share your choices - A or B - you could win a copy of the book, plus your very own bag and book mark!
norfolkbookworm.bsky.social
I like B the best, but either entice me to find out more!

I’ve not seen swarms of ladybirds like some are reporting but this one really stuck out when we were walking and looking for interesting things!

When I was a library event planner I used to really love planning for #BannedBookWeek - the book selection, reading and events were always so interesting.
This year I’ll be reading a banned book and watching @thelibrariansfilm.bsky.social but everyone should be able to read anything they want. 📚💙
The official publicity for Banned Books Week. The slogan reads Censorship is so 1984 with a thick red line through the word censorship. There are rainbow coloured stars under this and the words ‘Read for your rights’ and the dates of the campaign

After a grey and damp start to the day I was very pleased that it turned into a gloriously warm & sunny one.

Although people who wilfully ignore signs and bring dogs into the cemetery where there are clear signs on every gate saying they aren't allowed do seem to be trying to spoil my day!

I’m keen to read that one as I live not too far from Fenland and we often go through it on our way to other places. Perhaps this will encourage us to stop and explore!

Morning all!
Last week I was sidetracked from my book plans so this week my fiction pile includes Barbara Isn't Dying by Bronski, I Heard the Owl Call My Name by Craven, & Bookshop Girls by Aono.

Nonfic choices are Fen Women by Chamberlain & The Penguin Book of Penguins by Fretwell!

Happy reading

I am beginning (!) to think that government bureaucracy and forms are set up to make you fail.

Trying so hard to fill out the LPA forms and one missed tick box has resulted in it being sent back and incurred a resubmission fee.

Said box is duplicated at top of page and ticked there.

Grabbed the best of the sunshine this morning with a walk out in the Broads.
Quite a lot of branches down but no trees fortunately.

Home now for a classic b&w war film and a large mug of tea!

I was finding that I was buying physical books but then not reading them as library holds or NetGalley books kept taking precedence… to combat this & reduce screen time I’m only reading physical books in bed and I’ve created a stack of world lit books to work through!
#ReadTheWorld #BookSky 📚💙
A stack of books piled up spine on. Titles from top to bottom:
Crooked Cross - Sally Carson
An Episode in the Life of a Landscape Painter - Cesar Aira
Zazie in the Metro - Raymond Queaneau
Jasmine Tea - Eileen Chang
The Same Earth - Kei Miller
The Umbrella - Tove Ditlevsen
The Woman Next Door - Yewande Omotoso
Cicada! - Frederico Garcia Lorca
Spanish Beauty - Esther Garcia Llovet
The Lady Bandit - Emilia Pardo Bazan
The Book of Sana’a - Laura Kasinof (ed.)
A Short Guide to Towns Without a Past - Albert Camus
Siblings - Brigitte Reimann

Just got to that bit and you are absolutely right. It undermines the whole it’s ok to not conform message that I was getting before.
It’s just a riff on ‘she removed her glasses and was hot’ trope and really annoyed me.
