Right up until recently we were swapping book titles and planning reading group selections for next year

Thank you - we shared so many book recommendations and a love of Greece, although they were more adventurous than us as we avoid islands only accessible by boat

It will be crumble and custard here today but it’s definitely time to do anything and everything necessary to cope

I loved this book and have just been given access to the second volume on NetGalley. The writing was wonderful and even as it slipped in time and between 1st/3rd person narrative I was never take out of Pirkko’s world

We won't talk about how many books there are in the house that I've not (yet) read!
My new habit of only reading physical books from my tbr in bed is definitely helping...I think

I really wish I got on with audio books but I zone out when listening to them - and often fall asleep. I think being read to at bedtime as a kid conditioned me to sleep when I hear a story!
I keep trying and friends are forever recommending audio books to me

I definitely don’t have number goals for reading I just read fast and only work part time!

As I lost the ability to read due to illness a few years ago and had to relearn I do tend to go for shorter books now which helps boost numbers. Any reading is to be celebrated though whether 1 book or 100s

I was so happy when I saw this - congratulations! A wonderful book that I’m really grateful you translated because my German certainly isn’t up to reading it in the original.
Hope you have something nice to celebrate with this evening 🥂

Morning all!

This week I'll be starting all new books as for once I've finished everything I had on the go.

Library books will rule and in non-fiction I have Legenda by Janina Ramirez.

In fiction it will be On The Calculation of Volume III by Solvej Balle (tr. S.H.Smith)

Happy reading!

Will do, it was non fiction titles from what I recall then a plug for all the books written by contributors to the Times. I’ve read 200+ books this year but very few that were included here.
The Observer list today was quite good & available via Press Reader

Part one was in yesterday’s paper - would you like me to photograph it for you tomorrow?

It definitely lifted some of the sadness
