But every graph, chart, or infographic has been shaped by a series of human decisions. Someone decided what to measure and how to measure it. 3 students go to the movie and the ticket seller charges $30, they each pay $10. (side note: first clue this is a vintage problem!)
Later, the ticket seller realizes the discounted rate is 3 tickets for $25. He finds the students to return the $5. Rather than figuring out how to split the $5 evenly, the students take $1 each and give the honest seller the other $2 as a tip.
Each student ended up paying $9 and the seller got $2. 3*9+2=29. WHERE IS THE OTHER DOLLAR?"
