Don't care about the massive damage done to native ecosystems by the constant release of vast numbers of invasive pheasants for shooting?

Maybe you'll care about catching Lyme disease instead.

Ticks are more likely to carry the bacteria that cause Lyme disease in areas where Common Pheasants Phasianus colchicus are released, according to new research.

Neil Duncan-Jordan, MP for Poole, has warned that loopholes in current laws are allowing fox hunting to continue under different names despite the 2005 ban.

He has written to Angela Eagle, the new minister for rural affairs, urging her to act “before another season of suffering.”

"Rachel Reeves unblocked a development of 20,000 homes that were being held up by a rare snail, after being approached by a developer with whom she said, 'we have a good relationship'

Not only stupid and ignorant, but crooked with it

Indefensible

We always knew that Labour cares about little else other than keeping private developers happy.

But here's proof showing off to JP Morgan despite destruction of some of the "rarest creatures in our country."

Let's make that description Labour votes.

Far too many fox (according to one estimate I heard, around 20x the natural level) impact across ecosystems, for example on native ground-nesting birds.

The mass release of pheasants for shooting is an utter disaster for native ecosystems, and should be banned NOW.

I came across what looks to me like a bunch of pheasant feathers on the woodland floor, indicating a kill.

Since these are invasive predators of native wildlife, in one sense, that's great.

But it's also a major contributor to the highly damaging artificially high densities of species like fox.

The UK government has refused to ban bottom trawling in Marine Protected Areas — allowing one of the world’s most destructive fishing practices to continue tearing up seabeds, killing marine life, and releasing carbon. “Protected” means nothing if our oceans are still left open to destruction.

Chaps! Do yourself a favour and get a blood test done to have your PSA levels checked. I did last month and my elevated levels triggered off a scan, biopsy and prostate cancer diagnosis. The good news is that is a tiny amount, confined and not aggressive. Seems a good time to urge others to check!
