The Labour budget reflects the pressure from the left and @zackpolanski.bsky.social and @greenparty.org.uk. The government's actions have shown that they will respond to polling and public sentiment. If we make enough noise, they will move leftwards.

Kemi Badenoch is difficult to listen to. I think if the whole country listened to her then her polling would be even lower. She just comes across as petty, hateful, and pathetic. The Tories are so out of touch that they only know what the top 0.1% like to hear.

Funny that the BBC keep talking about "higher taxes" but not addressing who the higher taxes are aimed at. Framing matters. The budget places more of a burden on the wealthiest. I guess many of the BBC pundits aren't happy about this because the taxes apply to them. Also Badenoch is embarrassing.

The budget shows that this government cannot be compared to the Tories or Reform. They are nowhere near as bad. We may not be happy with their reluctance to move left and many of their policy decisions, but it does no good to say they're as bad as the Tories. It's our job to force them further left

I like this from Aditya Chakrabortty because he’s right that a 2% wealth tax over £10mil won’t be enough. But it’s a start. Ultimately, this is part of the normalisation of wealth tax discussion. Once it’s accepted, then of course it’s a situation of pushing for more wealth equality over time.
What does the left want? A wealth tax. What will that accomplish? Very little | Aditya Chakrabortty
Imposing a 1% levy on the super-rich isn’t a policy, it’s pantomime. Tackling inequality in Britain will require much more far-reaching changes, says Guardian columnist Aditya Chakrabortty

Why is that UK govts only listen to the rich who resent paying tax and decent wages?
