We'd like to extend a big THANK YOU to community voices and partners for their amazing advocacy for community-centered approaches!

Title that reads, "Remeber SB18? An image of an op-ed article with a heading that reads, "Critical amendments needed to fix California bill aimed at food deserts". Followed by writing that says, "SB18 has proposed a misuse of funds directed at large retailers with no guardrails, leaving out the most impactful community food retailers from obtaining grant funds. SB18 was held in the State Assembly last month. What does this mean? Legislators heard your demands. Your voice made an impact. While this bill is not moving forward with amendments that strengthen resilience and community voices, our efforts were enough to hit the brakes on a bill that was once considered "common-sense". We let legislators know: we want community-centered initiatives over corporate interests. Thank you for your mobilization, we couldn't have done it without you!"

#CalFresh helps more than 5.5M Californians/month. But the #BigBrutalBill is slashing this critical program. More people will have to deal with restrictive work requirements and deal with more red tape to access the food benefits they need.
