actually on this topic while it’s been years i can confidently say the mdzs audio drama is the single best adaption of the work. every single VA absolutely kills it and it lends SO much character to the novel. absolute must listen if you’re into mdzs and can uhhh understand mandarin lol
fuck the audio drama especially for adapting the text in the most heartrending way possible. like okay yeah i'll go eat drywall and then walk directly into the sea you don't even need to ask kindly. my GOD

sometimes i like to reflect on how that yi city arc fundamentally changed me as a person. like these characters were there for 100 pages and 2 eps of an audio drama and somehow it stands as some of the best self-contained tragedy i've read. 12/10 would torment myself again

my god writing this rotbb fic is such a disaster in keeping consistent terminology. it's a constant battle between the original korean, the chinese i'm used to, the official english translation, and the english fan translation. like damn alright i'll take a language salad why the hell not
