I was a bookish child, but a textbookish teenager. After completing homework, I couldn’t be bothered to read fiction. I wrote fiction with some friends.
If I read anything, it was nonfiction. It might be nice to read fiction again.

If you were a bookish teenager you probably read several novels a week. Likely a novel a day, if you really got into a series.
It is easy to imagine that your teenager reads more words than you did each week, but not in the form of novels.
