Mouseward, our new Soulslike Collectathon, has a free alpha demo up on itch if anybody wants to try it early 👀
Gonna get a bit sentimental on main, but I'm incredibly grateful that I'm at a point in my career where I can work on a game that combines all of my biggest influences into something I'm genuinely excited to show people.

No idea how long I'll get to keep doing this, but for now I'm having a blast!

My 2 cents on the games difficulty discourse is that people dramatically underestimate how stubborn gamers are when it comes to turning down the difficulty.
With Void Sols, most of our players stuck with the default difficulty even if they were struggling and knew about the accessibility options.

2025 really is a generational year for indie games whose budgets strain the definition of the term
(Just rolled credits on Hades 2 😆)

No wonder steam has a monopoly with the way their competition keeps kneecapping themselves

Why didn't anybody warn me about Back Pain ™️ when I turned 30? 🥲

We need more "completely unrelated thing I was inspired by" gamedev posts, it's always so cool to see what gets people's creative juices flowing.
Did you know 7 Days to Die was one of the inspirations for our game? 👀

Don’t worry! There are no zombies in Winter Burrow 🐭

We were inspired to explore the contrast between the stress of wandering the cold unknown VS the relief of returning to your safe, warm home ❄️

The desire to post random intrusive thoughts to be free of them, versus the fear of poster's remorse.

I had Legos and an N64 growing up, becoming a level designer for videogames was all but guaranteed.
What’s the lore behind choosing your career path ?

The older I get, the more I gravitate to games for vibes more than mechanics.
Give me a neat looking space and some moody lighting and I'm sold, lol

Man, it's tough finding that balance between making a novel game, and making a marketable game.
If it's too bizarre it's hard to get people to play it, but if it's too safe it can get boring.
Curious to hear what other folks' experience with this has been.

I think that the kind of games I'm most excited to work on is anything I haven't done before. Especially if it's a genre I'm less familiar with, it's an opportunity to learn to appreciate something new.
If I don't like it, why? What do I want to change to make it interesting to me?

Now that I've had some time to mull it over, it's been good getting some constructive criticism on Mouseward while we're still early in development. While I can't promise we're gonna suddenly shift to a platformer, I would like to better represent Collectathons with a bit more gameplay variety.

Please read this in the gentlest possible voice but we HAVE to divest from mil-sims as gamedevs. Even before this AI bullshit in the latest Black Ops, these games have done so much harm and contributed massively to the dehumanization of several populations worldwide. It’s US foreign pol propaganda.

Finally picked up The Spirit and the Mouse, and this game is so good?!
I've been really enjoying running around this chill little french town collecting bulbs. The level design, the art direction, and the music are all top notch, just a lovely little game.
