One of my favourite phenomena that's really only possible in very long-running media is when the fandom hyper-focuses on a character who isn't even in 95% of it. Like, what do you mean 70% of the fanart involves a character who appears in *checks* 5 episodes of a 168-episode series nine seasons ago?

This gets extra funny when it's a video game fandom and the character in question is an NPC.
Sometimes not even a story-relevant NPC.
Sometimes an NPC in a wacky spinoff game that is completely different from the main series... and only there.
(hard mode, no mentioning Waluigi)
