Just checked the Discord channel out of curiosity, and found an update from 2023 suggesting the website would be made "static" since it had been hacked.
Bobby (Fearless Leader) — 9/28/23, 9:56 PM @everyone NASOALMO 2023 ANNOUNCEMENT At some point back in August the NaSoAlMo website was (once again) infiltrated and some phishing and redirects were installed. Best I can figure, there was some vulnerability in WordPress at some point that compromised the integrity - people were able to create admin accounts for themselves, and have partially locked me out. Since I don't usually go checking around the site until September, I missed this until recently. *Passwords are stored as encrypted information, so I HAVE NO REASON TO BELIEVE ANYONE'S PASSWORDS WERE COMPROMISED. Your emails which you used to sign up, however, are plaintext, and may have been leaked. My sincerest apologies if anyone has noticed an increase in spam email, but hopefully modern spam filters are catching them and you don't even notice. However, because of this, and my limited time over the next few days, I'm not going to be able to get it back up and running in time for the usual October 1 signup At this point, I'm considering two options. 1) Rebuild the site to what it was. Everyone's user information and previous rosters are still intact via the backend databases. This would probably take me a day or two to make sure everything migrates properly, and given my current schedule and limited free time coming up, may not happen until a week or two into October at the earliest. 2) Make the site static and without a roster; more of an announcement/info/landing page. I'm leaning more toward this because it'd be a lot less for me to manage, and would no longer be a security risk to you fine folks who simply want to participate and create art. Like I said, I'm leaning toward making it a static site with no user login or roster, but I'd love to get your thoughts and opinions on this going forward. I appreciate everyone's patience and continued support. Y'all make every November an absolute blast and I love the support and community we have here. 💜
