What kind of damn fool goes for an early morning walk in the rain and 37F temperatures while wearing Vans?

Oh right. Me.

Is it sacrilegious to unbind HJKL in vim and exclusively use the arrow keys?

I sometimes wonder about a world where "AI" was properly focused on the niche tasks it excels at. Not as a first step towards AGI that is worth burning the world down over, or a destroyer of the arts, but an efficient tool for specific fields.

Altman and the rest really did the world a disservice.

This is incredible. Already gave it a test run and it works just as easy as it sounds in the blog. Once more browsers support this, I'm going to find a few uses for it on my own websites.

Blizzard, you're always finding ways to drag me back into the game. The paladin plays great! I'm having a lot more fun with it than I did the Crusader in Diablo 3.

First graduate quarter done. Feels good to get a couple of weeks for personal projects before having to jump back into the grind for next quarter.

A few loose ends to tie up over winter break, but Legion Remix has been so much fun. Looking forward to the next one!

At some point we’re going to talk about whether so much of the internet should be centralized behind Cloudflare, right?

Every year, I sit down to do Advent of Code and am reminded how much I dislike having to deal with input parsing every single day. I have finite time to dedicate to this, and spending anymore than 10 seconds in string manipulation and regex patterns is more time than I want to spend on it.

I've been waiting literally more than half my life for this moment. I'm going to spend months playing The Sims in Azeroth.

Eversong, my beloved...

I never thought I'd get to explore a new version of my favorite section of the game. 19 years later, and here we are.

I find myself more out-of-step with the Swift community with each passing year. Every time I look at some new framework or template, it's just abstraction upon abstraction upon abstraction, and forgetting so many lessons I thought were understood.

I miss what Swift drove towards 3 versions ago.

I remember thinking it was cool that the game had no software renderer, as it was one of the early games to require a GPU. Those requirements really take me back though. 8 megs of VRAM is incredible by modern standards.

Cat. What the eff. Quit chewing on the wifi antenna.

This is what I get for putting her bed within biting distance of the router...

Incredible how we let so much of the backbone of the Internet get centralized to just a few companies. AWS has issues like a few weeks ago, half of the web goes down. Cloudflare has issues like it did yesterday, half of the web goes down.

I say to a centralized social network...

Got to attend a fascinating talk the other night by Brent Boswell from Nvidia discussing design inside CPUs and GPUs. It was especially interesting to hear the differences in approach between Nvidia and Intel, such as Nvidia working to add new features right up until tape-out for a product.

Second Legion Timerunner complete.

Aethmal has had quite the journey through WoW. Human Paladin -> Undead Warrior -> Night Elf DK -> Void Elf DK. But despite his RP history, this is the first time I've spent any time with him as a Blood Elf. It's been fun experiencing the character this way.

It's depressing that I need to be extra vigilant for AI-generated academic articles. Was checking the references on one paper and most of them did not exist. Not even all of the journals listed seemed to be real...

Is there any place left that AI slop has not infiltrated?

These deathmasks they added for this year's Day of the Dead are really cool. Although they do highlight how Blizzard needs to figure out that hair morphing tech they were talking about previously, as they clip through a lot of hairstyles pretty bad.

I guess if you wait until the early morning, let the fog roll in, and then squint and tilt your head, it might look like a war zone here.

First Legion Timerunner complete.

Back during TBC, Seralin was a Blood Elf alt meant solely for experiencing Quel'thalas. It remains one of my favorite areas in the game, and since Aethmal was stuck being an Undead, she provided the perfect view into that part of the world.

Hades 2 is a much better game than the original, but it still suffers the same pain points for me. By the time I'm ready to focus on the last boss, I'm bored of the process to get to him. 30-45 minutes of gameplay that starts to put me to sleep, just for a few minutes of fighting.
