Yes it is I, Local Observer from Iraq Twitter. If you know, you know. Cringey millennial. Local Observer on Signal. She/her

This post will be pinned so that new/potential followers would know what I am about:
Iraqi. Feminist. Free Palestine. Fuck Israel. Death To The IDF. Antisemitism is not allowed under any circumstances. This is a safe space for LGBT+ people. Fuck the patriarchy.
The fact that Bridgerton still doesn't have an Asian male lead despite casting an Asian actress as the love interest of the white male lead for Season 4 is quite upsetting.
I mean I absolutely LOVE Yerin Ha and she is so beautiful. This is not meant to take away from her success in any way.

If nothing else, pretty amazing Canadian PM Carney said the quiet part out loud today: international law has never been real and the ‘rules’ of the international order have never applied to the US and its allies.

This may indeed be the actual death of neoliberalism.

And I am handing over protection duties of electrical wires at my house to my baby bird. It's not like she'd ever chew on them if I stop watching over her for less than a minute, right?

Five grams of 21 carat gold in Iraq have hit the HISTORIC 1 million IQD ($764 USD) mark for the first time ever in Iraq's modern history.
Today has been quite hard for MANY Iraqi women including myself😭🤦🏻‍♀️💔
What's going on with gold, the dollar and the long end of the yield curve today is giving me the heebie jeebies

Predictably I am seeing almost nothing on my Bluesky timeline re the current serious escalation in the Middle East despite following MANY news and political analysis-centric accounts.

Will Middle Eastern Kurds now learn their lesson that being assets for America and Israel in the region will only lead them to further disappointment and heartbreak?
Obviously I'd never side with the terrorist regime in Damascus but SDF has learned the HARD way that المتغطي بأمريكا و إسرائيل عريان.

I implore everyone on here to Google what America and the so-called "international community" have inflicted on Iraq following Saddam's regime invasion of Kuwait in 1990.
US Secretary of Treasury Scott Bessent:

What I am urging everyone here to do is sit back, take a deep breath, and let things play out. The worst thing countries can do is escalate against the United States.

Americans just discovering what we have always known about their regime has got to be one of my most favourite Bluesky genres.
Trump shared this doctored image of him with European leaders and a new map of US that includes Canada, Greenland and Venezuela. Totally unhinged and deranged.

"It's a totally good idea to keep a colony of poisonous snakes in my backyard so that the entire neighbourhood would know that I am the only one preventing these snakes from running loose.
It's not like these snakes will ever get a chance to actually run loose and bite me on their way out".
it didn't workout, now the released ISIS will go after YPG and kill

This is so embarrassing I just can't........
The pivot from "Mamdani is a political genius for focusing his message almost entirely on affordability" to "Schumer is a political moron for focusing his message almost entirely on affordability" is odd.

Fear of international backlash plus they thought they could use them as leverage.
SDF should've sentenced those ISIS prisoners to death many years ago.

At Davos, Governor Gavin Newsom said European leaders were “complicit” and “pathetic” in how they handle President Trump, adding that he should have “brought a bunch of knee pads for them.”

SDF just announced its formal withdrawal from Al Hol camp in Syria that harbours ISIS terrorists and their families.
Of course it makes perfect sense that the Middle East is on the verge of imploding once again at a time when the US President is a certified lunatic.
Large pro-Kurdish demo outside U.K. Parliament just now. There’s a lot of concern that what happened in Suwayda is now unfolding in NE Syria.

Iraqi TV channels that are Sunni-affliated are pretty much going with official Syrian story that it was SDF that released those ISIS terrorists.
its a Jihadi lie, there is footage and videos how they release prisoners from multiple prisons, just check my timeline. Al Aqtan prison north of Raqqa is completely besieged by Jihadists, despite that a Kurdish Units holds the positions bsky.app/profile/aram...
Commander Unit at the prison facility Haval Ankiel said in a phone conversation with Rojava media that they have made the decision to die in the footsteps of the martyr (Ziad was the commander of Asayish who fought till the end in Sheikh Maqsood last week)

Yeah, because like I said HTS was/is? a terrorist organisation.
That's pretty much how they usually operate, even if they claim that they've changed.
Instead of undoing the exclusionary identity-based foundations of the Syrian 'Arab' Army, HTS under the leadership of Ahmad Al-Sharaa, has reinforced them by adding a 'Sunni' layer on top, further narrowing its potential to represent.

HTS was/is??? a terrorist organisation.
Now are terrorists capable of change and growth? Apart from ditching their old terrorist uniforms and wearing suits and ties instead?
I'm not saying the same doesn't hold true when the roles are reversed, I'm saying that all the fighting factions in Syria, including the Syrian army, are plagued in tribalism, which reinforces a broader point I'm making:

HTS has failed to build a national army which was of course inevitable.

Will add that it really speaks to how totally new this level of scrutiny actually is for so many pro-Israel politicians. They in the historical record have received far less scrutiny than, say, a Muslim Indian who simply thinks Palestinians should have equal rights, but they freak out ten times more
there's definitely a problem of AIPAC-brained paranoia in left wing activist spaces that can bleed into antisemitism but probing a guy who literally worked for the Israeli embassy and self-described as a volunteer for the Israeli military is not an example
