Interestingly, promoters of 'innovative' financing instruments rather often seek supposedly not so innovative grant funding (which is has difficulties to attract 💶 as it is not considered sufficient 'innovative'). 🤔

Ocean finance still falls far short of what’s needed. We have a long way to go to put it into the hands of those who really need it. We describe what’s actually working in blue finance, as well as the proven mechanisms that must now scale to deliver measurable, community-centered impact.
Oped on Ocean financing incl. ED @oceanknigge.bsky.social, @wcs.org' @stacyjupiter.bsky.social & Lorely Picourt. Time to scale up investments in #OceanOptimism
As #COP30 unfolds in Belém, one message is clear: ocean finance pledges aren’t enough.

A new op-ed by @stacyjupiter.bsky.social, @oceanknigge.bsky.social, & Loreley Picourt highlights proven tools, from guarantees to community-led governance, that can turn commitments into impact.
