The Maud is perhaps a lesser known polar ship than its counterparts the Fram and the Gjøa, that can be visited at the Fram Museum (Oslo). But Maud still made a great contribution to #Arctic #exploration and #science, and is now back on Norwegian soil.

When one thinks of the summer in the #Arctic, one could often imagine endless peaceful icescapes shed by everlasting sunlight. But out on the ocean the reality is different: fog is what you would typically find here this time of year.
