“No beta I die” I don’t think that’s how the tag is supposed to go.

Couldn't put it off any longer, especially since we're supposed to get another deep freeze over the weekend so I got to slip and slide over the ice hillocks in the back yard to go whack the compost bin open so I could put the kitchen waste in it. Fun!

Local parent: Are there any Unitarian summer bible camps in this area?

Other local parent: Have you tried the Baptists?

No, I suspect that the first parent is not interested in the VBS at the Baptist church.

It's snowing and the dogs are going to make me take them outside. Why are they like this?

Ha, I had to say something. Two starlings on the platform feeder. I expect they'll clear that out.
Topped up all the bird feeders while it was nice - since it's supposed to get nasty over the weekend again - and the local birds are pleased.

Interesting what birds I haven't seen the last two weeks. The local house sparrow flock: only once that I recall. No starlings at all.

The all round one looks way more like an orange, doesn’t it. I’m going to have to do another 40 quarter circles.

Today's hyper-specific question for my farm friends -- when it's winter, and you have an animal with horns who's been outside for a while, do the horns cool down with the weather so they're chilly to the touch, or is there enough bloodflow/connection to the body that they're warm, or does it depend?

In human food news, all of the leftovers in the fridge have been eaten and this is a tragedy of what the fuck am I having for lunch proportions.

I use a browser add-on for FB that hides a lot of the shit so that I can at least only see posts from sources I follow, not the endless argument people have in other people's posts etc. However, FB has changed their code so posts people comment on are showing up again and it fucking sucks.

Absent neighbor said she was going to try to get back to town next week so since it was warm I decided to tackle the plow spoils in her driveway. Went faster than I thought it would and I'm really hoping that a bunch more melts off through the afternoon now that the pavement is exposed.

Great thread explaining why volunteers mass 3D printing whistles makes more financial sense than buying them in bulk!
I think people often wonder this, and it's a great question, so let me explain the advantages of 3D printing whistles. There are many.

The 3D printing effort started from one of our organizers who started by sourcing mass-produced whistles.
I mean, are they really cheaper or easier to produce than just sourcing the right thing from a mass distributor? it's sweet but doesn't seem Pareto efficient, and I feel like that's important to the revolution

Sometimes your purpose in life at that moment is to hold the water buffalo horn at the right angle for the dog to chew.
