First day of Autumn equinox!

Saw a coyote looking for lunch, visited local business and hung out at the beach at low tide.

I know it. We cruised on them so many times that we get all the perks. Just can’t believe how expensive their drinks are.

Puglia is Italy's top olive oil producer, accounting for over 40% of Italy’s olive oil.

October marks the start of the olive harvest. What better way to celebrate this than with an olive oil tasting at Frantoio Savoia in Pezze di Greco, Fasano.

Today’s Puglia Kitchen lunch. Pasta al forno alla contadina.

Now we have changed seasons and moved from Puglia’s summer to not-summer season, we can spend more time in the kitchen. It’s a time when comfort food is not only appealing but appreciated.

Followed by an absolutely cracking meal in #RistoFratelliPesce in #Taranto old town. Highly recommended by @pugliaguys.bsky.social, it did not disappoint with Oysters, Cod and Cockles and Mussel Pasta. Off to visit the old town now. #Puglia

We spent some time learning about the Calabria Kitchen. They use an ingredient that is missing from our Puglia Kitchen - and we have to say, added to pasta, it’s a revelation!

He can’t take tariff money and give it to anyone, so that is bs. Congress has to pass another farm bailout bill just like they had to the last time Trump wrecked their businesses. So farmers will have to embrace socialism again since they can’t compete in market capitalism.

We certainly recommend a stay of at least one-night to soak up the atmosphere of Matera in the neighbouring region of Basilicata. By night the city and the sassi transform.

Around an hour from Bari - take the FAL train with optional stop-offs at Altamura, and a visit to nearby Gravina in Puglia.

Lunch | paccheri with a polpo sugo.

Puglia definitely has an end of summer feel… moving to melancholy but with plenty seasonal harvest treats on the horizon.

A Taste of Puglia.

Food is how you understand our region. Every dish tells a story of the seasons, the land, the sea, and the people who live here. Italy’s largest olive oil producer, its breadbasket, the 2nd-biggest wine region, and the birthplace of burrata.
