The years when facebook was taking off coincided with the years when we lost almost all of my parents' generation. The cousins, from the US, Ireland, England, and Scotland. reconnected on facebook. There must be over 75 of us in the network at this point who would otherwise mostly have lost touch.

The Sinclair affiliate in Dayton, OH, just switched over at 11:00 a.m. from local programming to live broadcasting the Trump UNGA speech, instead of airing The View with Kamala Harris as guest. Is this happening on other Sinclair stations?

I made this mistake on a much smaller scale, but still embarrassing, as it was in a document draft that went to the university president and senior administration among others, and included a note that we had edited the paragraph to emphasize university service instead of--well, you know.

I saw this painting in SF in an exhibition of Rockefeller donations. When they were considering purchases, they looked at works separately and rated them from A to D on specific criteria. They had a special category, though--O, for "Oh, what a lovely little painting!" and this was one.
