A Philips advertisement promotes its CD Video Player with the slogan: "We couldn't make it sound any better, so we've improved the way it looks." The ad showcases the player's ability to play both new gold discs and existing silver ones, highlighting its compatibility and picture quality on a television screen. The advert also references Freddie Mercury and Montserrat Caballé's album. WE COULDN'T MAKE IT SOUND ANY BETTER. SO, WE'VE IMPROVED THE WAY IT LOOKS. It might not seem possible, CD VIDEO but they're going to be a lot more appealing on CD video. From today, you can buy new, gold CD Video discs. They sound as perfect as you would expect any CD to sound, yet they can also play superb pictures on your television screen. But we haven't forgotten about the normal silver discs, either. In true Philips tradition, we've invented a brilliant, new CD Video Player. It plays both the new, gold discs and the existing silver ones. Sad news to bring you, last week on 9th September 2025 Sue Johnstone, the first person to run the @Queenwillrock fan club, peacefully passed away, her daughter Kat by her side. Sue joined us at the convention a couple of years ago and gave some great memories from those early days
