If I’m being completely honest it feels more condescending how they’re having real actors do voice work for this slop. Like they know that they’re going to be yelled at just by announcing this, so the voice actors are essentially a shield to get abuse hurled at.

Considering the fact that it came out in the 90s the only thing about the satire that doesn’t hit is that the Bubble Exonomy collapsed, but otherwise it perfectly captured what it’s like to observe America in 2026. How much of the manga’s satire they’ll adapt remains to be seen.

National Quiz is fascinating, it portrays an insane fascistic society where violence is a public spectacle conducted by heavily armed secret police enacted on the behalf of the whims of a person who did well on a tv show, and the armed forces terrorize not just the citizens but the entire world.
It’s crazy how I haven’t once been listening to my local pop station and any of Sombr’s music has come on. That feels like malpractice

Thinking about this is almost too bleak to even comprehend, but in this country every person who has a job that involves firearms and almost every civilian who owns one too are all completely ideologically aligned while simultaneously radicalizing themselves further towards fascism on a daily basis.

In every Shonen manga there’s always a certain degree of homoeroticism between the male rivals, but Kaiba being so obsessed with the Pharaoh that he manages to overcome time and death to be with the Pharaoh…I mean duel him, I can’t think of another series that comes close to topping that.

At least with Quorators there are regularly a few bits that do need a visual component for their maximum impact (zooming in on Alex’s baby, swimming in clothes, etc)
