I didn't listen to much of the speech so no hot takes but I did think the boob hypnotism jokes were quite funny.

This piece on Kenyans abused in Saudi Arabia, and government complicity, is a shocking read. www.nytimes.com/2025/11/14/w...

I really wish there was a setting on social media to separate comments by what they refer to, so I could screen out all the shouting from America and hear the whispers from everywhere else.

Been thinking of the Noah Smith/Heathrow thing this morning. People say he hates Britain, but there is an implicit admiration of the best traditions of UK journalism in getting a 2,000 word think piece dissecting a whole country's future out of spending 90 minutes in one of its airports.

If social media companies are actively making choices about what kind of political content to highlight, then how are they different from traditional media companies? And so why aren't they liable to being sued for libel, etc, in the same way?

Not really the main issue from Caerphilly, but I'm fascinated by the continued existence of zombie parties. What motivates someone to stand for UKIP in 2025, presumably in the full knowledge you're going to come last?

Yes, he's a vile person objectively stoking the flames that are burning the world, but he also makes us money, so let's split the difference and go with "neutrality".

So refreshing to see the previously unexplored subversive potential of a very rich person owning a media outlet, and content producers giving him what he wants.

How has the government got itself into the position of standing up for Israeli football hooligans, while criminalising peaceful supporters of Palestine Action?

Has anyone read anything comprehensive/interesting about the circular investment thing going on with AI? i.e. "Nscale buys Nvidia to build data centre for Microsoft, which invests in OpenAI, which invests in Nvida, which invests in Nscale" as in this article.
