The Skrmetti decision is a travesty, but it is limited to the medical context for minors and does not bless all discrimination against transgender people. We also have other arguments against these bans. Transgender youth, please know that we love you and will fight for you.

I’m particularly proud of this lawsuit against the administration’s unprecedented, sweeping, and discriminatory terminations of NIH funding for LGBQTI+ health research. Our LGBTQI+ community knows all too well that silence equals death. But we will not be silenced. We will not be ignored.

🔬 NEW LAWSUIT: Today, Lambda Legal, GLMA: Health Professionals Advancing LGBTQ+ Equality, and 16 researchers filed a lawsuit against the NIH over the termination of 100s of research grants that funded critical LGBTQI+ health research.

Let’s be clear, though. Today’s decision is not the end. We will continue to fight on behalf of our plaintiffs and other transgender servicemembers to see justice done. History will judge this animus-laden policy and today’s unreasoned decision for the dark stains on our nation that they are. 2/2

Today’s decision by SCOTUS to allow immediate implementation of Trump’s ban on military service by transgender people is devastating and will irreparably harm thousands of patriotic transgender servicemembers who have sacrificed and fought for our freedoms with honor and distinction. 1/2

JUSTICE DENIED: Today, SCOTUS granted the Trump admin’s request to lift the preliminary injunction that blocked enforcement of the trans military ban, allowing the admin’s policy to take immediate effect while our case with @hrc.org Foundation proceeds.

Black graphic with white text that reads, "Justice denied: Supreme Court allows discriminatory transgender military ban to take effect." “Today's Supreme Court ruling is a devastating blow to transgender servicemembers who have demonstrated their capabilities and commitment to our nation's defense. By allowing this discriminatory ban to take effect while our challenge continues, the Court has temporarily sanctioned a policy that has nothing to do with military readiness and everything to do with prejudice. We remain steadfast in our belief that this ban violates constitutional guarantees of equal protection and will ultimately be struck down.”

It’s not everyday your brief is spotlighted on SCOTUSblog. Great write up about our opposition to Trump administration’s request to the Supreme Court to reinstate its ban on transgender military service while our case proceeds.

In a brief filed this evening, seven transgender service members and one prospective recruit urged the justices to leave in place a judge’s order that blocked the Trump administration from enforcing a policy prohibiting anyone with gender dysphoria from serving in the military.

And boom! Wilmer Hale is fighting back too. Also, huge kudos to the attorneys and firms that are representing these law firms in these challenges, including Williams & Connolly, Cooley LLP, and Clement & Murphy!
omargp.bsky.social
So proud to count as co-counsel attorneys from law firms that actually stand up for the rule of law, our Constitution, and the legal profession, as opposed to firms that bend the knee and kowtow to authoritarianism. Thank you Perkins Coie LLP and Jenner & Block LLP for standing firm!

Shame on anyone who bends the knee to fascism, whether it is Meta, ABC, or Paul Weiss.

A friend’s disgusted reaction to Paul, Weiss:

“So many non-profit lawyers have been so busy working on cases against the unconstitutional actions of the Administration, because the big firm lawyers with multiple houses and cars and boats and every other damn thing are too fucking weak to do it.”
