Very cool indeed. This makes me think of the “cabezudos” during Carnival from my time in Uruguay. I looked it up and it seems to be a tradition of Spanish/European origin with different countries doing their own take.
Pray for my family, among the lawless terrorists in the #Austin #NoKings rally. (Sarcasm)

I once lived in Carrboro! Now in a smaller Texas small town. We too rallied! Good to see smaller communities doing their part.
Pretty good turn out for #NoKings in #Bastrop Texas. More people trickling in to rally point. Exciting to have a new candidate Clayton Tucker for Texas Ag Commissioner here with us.
My somewhat bad punny signs for Bastrop, TX No Kings day (context: we are known as the “Lost Pines” area due to being in an area with pines normally only seen in Eastern Texas.)
“In another unconstitutional and systemically racist move, FEMA halts preparedness grant money, orders states to recount their populations excluding deported migrants.” Fixed it!
You could be ny long list twin 🥰. I commit!
“And boots” makes it even better, especially if they are rubber, mud stained, and chewed up by a dog.
This! My idea of a good weekend is putzing around in the garden (aka engaging in horticultural Darwinism) and maybe cooking a few things from scratch, only because I don’t like all packaging. I’d do it every day of the week if I weren’t required to be gainfully employed until I take my last breath.
Proud washed-up hag here!
One of those mornings when even turkey wattles can be inspiring 😀!
…and then they will still try to convince you that you haven’t done enough, and you just to need to adjust some magical mindset and read a few more inspirational quotes to get there. Whatever the f “there” is. (Let’s normalize being okay just “being”… no extra adjectives attached.)
This is the only thing giving me hope. Once a country goes through a dictatorship/facism, it takes a good generation or two before the horrors are forgotten. Maybe we will emerge better, and if I don’t get to see it, perhaps the younger generations will.
Seeing a theme here… and, it’s all sleight of hand, isn’t it?
But don’t you know it’s not “socialism” if it benefits the ruling class?! It’s “protecting economic interests” or some other BS. It’s only socialism if it’s actually done to help marginalized people.
Valid point!
Feel like if this is how the law works, there’s no reason to make a budget deal because there’s no reason to believe anything that you win via Congress will actually happen anyway.
BREAKING: Supreme Court lets Trump unilaterally freeze billions in congressionally appropriated foreign aid money

apparent 6-3 vote with liberals in dissent @courthousenews.bsky.social
Came here to say this. I’m pretty sure it happened, too. I mean how do you pardon people in jail for something that never happened?🤷🏻‍♀️Were they ever even there? This is like bad science-fi!
One of many great Bob Dylan songs from that era. Also this one resonates with the current era:
Exactly! When do we start worrying as much about the rights of all the people improperly detained and killed by this regime as much as we worry about entertainers rights?
Came here to say that. From them, it’s always the woman’s fault.

It in the year 9 TE, (Trump Era), it was common for the cabinet to publicly preview speeches, due to an attempt to mold the anticipated incoherence of said speech into something that served reigning party.
