NEW: Police knew a Kremlin spy ring recruited former leader of Reform Wales at least 3 years ago.

So why was Nathan Gill not charged till Feb this year?

Pls read part 2 of @thenerve.news special investigation into Nathan Gill. And please share!

As so often, @laylamoran.bsky.social finds gracious, unifying words.

"I choose to believe that peace is possible. Everyone who went on a protest, wrote to their MP, cares about it, shouted at their TV - from whatever point of view - what were those deaths for, if not for a sustainable peace?" ~AA

Farage has given up the pretence that he barely knew Nathan Gill. He can't do otherwise, given the flood of evidence to the contrary.

Here is Gill saying he's just come from having lunch with Farage on the day that Farage resigned as UKIP leader 4 July 2016?

Horrified and appalled by the attack outside Heaton Park Hebrew Congregation Synagogue on Yom Kippur, the holiest day in the Jewish calendar.

My thoughts are with the victims, our brave emergency services and the entire Jewish community.

Care workers deserve fair pay, but funding it through council tax hikes won’t solve the crisis.

The government must deliver a long term plan for social care.

Doing Putin’s bidding? That is Trump’s America, don’t let it become Farage’s Britain.

We need a new inquiry by the Intelligence and Security Committee into Reform and Farage's links to Russia.

The EU must redouble its work to get Moldovan (and Ukrainian) accession moving.

Really, Reform UK? THIS is what you're going with? That this man, who served as an MEP next to Nigel Farage for years and was made leader of your party in Wales by current deputy, Richard Tice, is just "one of tens of thousands of people Nigel meets on an annual basis"?~AA

I do think we sometimes forget:
1. We need high-skilled migrants to keep the NHS working, and to grow the economy
2. High-skilled migrants have a *lot* of choices over where to go

And

3. We’ve been getting less attractive as a destination for years anyway (wages here famously suck)

Nigel Farage & Alex Phillips have been awfully quiet about Nathan Gill pleading guilty to eight counts of bribery relating to pro-Russia statements made in European parliament and articles.

Just wanted to refresh their memories about how they were all a team through that period.

Nathan Gill is no fringe politician.

He was the leader of the Reform Party and before that UKIP in Wales.

A Brexit Party MEP.

A friend and ally of Nigel Farage, who in 2016 called him:

"terrific," and "as honest as the day is long."

This is a MASSIVE story

Indeed!
What with Farage saying that Putin is the leader he most admires, Russian money in the Brexit referendum, and now this, a pattern of collusion and betrayal of Britain is becoming clearer and clearer…

Agreed. Politics is not about avoiding conflict: disagreement is inherent to democratic politics.

Sometimes you have to decide where you plant your standard; where you draw your dividing lines.

This should be one such place.
Keir Starmer's aides are reportedly telling him not to go to the COP30 climate conference, because Reform would attack him for it.
Yes, they might.
And he should wear it as a badge of honour.
Standing up for humanity, for science and a habitable planet.
Where's the hazard in that?

Superb by @gabyhinsliff.bsky.social on what Reform Uk might do with digital ID. One more maddening thing about this govt is the absence (refusal?) of Labour thinking about whether some of their plans will help a Farage govt. See also removing SEND rights www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...
