Open Source Pledge is a group of companies with a shared commitment to paying the maintainers of the Open Source software we all consume.

https://opensourcepledge.com
[email protected] co-founder, Josh built this cool tool called Tribute, a Claude Code skill to support your OSS dependencies. If you don't support the projects you rely on, you're running out of excuses!

We are overdue with our @opensourcepledge.com for 2025, but hearing the news from @tailwindcss.com made us turn around and get it done™

We're now processing $146,000 to open source projects that we use and like at Sanity HQ.

It's heartbreaking to see widely-used frameworks like Tailwind become even less financially sustainable due to LLMs.

I appreciated Tailwind's creator sharing his feelings of failure and frustration in an emotionally vulnerable way, and I made a short video to explain how I see the problem.

We've heard people like Starter Packs, so we just begun putting one together for open source organizations. It could be an OSPO like us, a Foundation that supports projects and the ecosystem or accounts for OSS events.

Take a look and tell us who else should be there.

@tailwindcss.com's business model went away overnight — partly because LLMs are accelerating the Open Source sustainability crisis.

I wrote a post about how LLMs popularise projects while simultaneously financially harming their creators.

Another reason for companies to join @opensourcepledge.com.

Like the rest of the internet, Sentry runs on Open Source. Like the rest of the @opensourcepledge.com companies, we also believe in paying it back.

In 2025, we gave out $750k to the OSS projects we rely on; here’s a sampling of some of them, and why they are so crucial 🧵

prospective Pledge co's: idk it's a lot of money, will it really help with recruiting?

prospective employees:
Haha thanks!

You & @chadwhitacre.com & @sentry.io putting so much time & effort & money into @opensourcepledge.com & sponsorships was a big reason why I joined Sentry. It speaks positively and strongly about the company culture and motivations and people!

Just re-upped my @opensourcepledge.com for 2025.

If you get value from open source projects, donating a small fraction of your income is a fantastic way to give back to those people whose work you depend on.

Thanks to all the open source maintainers who have helped make my career possible!

Sentry has a stellar product I've enjoyed using, lovely people, and an excellent relationship with open source. I'm really looking forward to joining the team.

This is how you #thankthemaintainers! 👏👏
I'm signing the @opensourcepledge.com, it's time to give back to the maintainers of the projects @nuqs.dev depends on.

I just gave 2700€ ($3,212) to 18 maintainers & projects I use, love, and want to support.

Happy Thanksgiving! 💖

The SaaS Pegasus Black Friday sale is live! The unlimited license is 50% off ($500 savings).

This is a rare deal. I don’t believe in the growth hack thing of having fake discounts running perpetually. I only do sales once a year.

If you've been thinking about grabbing Pegasus, this is the time.
