I have faith that LSS will continue to support artists, that was never in question to me.

I do think it’s worth it to remind people that incidental usage of generative AI like this still has a cost associated with it. It could’ve been blank, a stick figure, or old art like the weapon is.

And the window(?) cloth and ribbons all just look off. Why would a window have such uneven bars/line weight? The arm ribbon and fabric folds don’t really make sense to me. If we had a cleaner picture of the embroidery or patterns on the clothing, they’d probably look random and inconsistent.

Aesthetically, I think it’s AI because:
-Style isn’t consistent with FAB. It has a finish similar to a “hyper-real” AI aesthetic (phrasing often used in AI prompts)
-Depiction of Dromai…doesn’t really look like her, from her face to the outfit.
-Dragon looks generic and the scales look too clean

To most people, I think this seems like a “valid” or harmless use of AI; it’s for temporary internal use to convey an idea and not for us to consume. Basically, I think it’s likely AI because it’s exactly the use case an AI company would pitch to a game developer/design team.

…and that just makes me depressed. It helps corporations keep The Line moving up, but for normal people, AI is a machine that flattens creativity, removes humanity, and contributes to the further destruction of our planet.

Please consider this and do your own research before using AI.

From a personal perspective: It’s just really disappointing every time you find out that something you love has AI usage in it, even if it’s just as a placeholder. As a creative, my industry is being pushed towards using AI and I think it’s inevitably going to be standard practice going forward…

That’s not even mentioning how many people have lost their jobs because some Executives think AI can replace humans in everything from artists to Human Resources. How scary is it to offload management of your human capital to an AI? How gross is it that executives coined the phrase “human capital”?

From a moral perspective, AI is awful. These apps have been trained on material without permission from the original creators. It devalues the years of talent and expertise that artists bring to the table and homogenizes their work into mush that ultimately just benefits rich tech bro’s wallets.

While the individual electricity use for a prompt may be small (you can ask ChatGPT if it can calculate its emissions for each use! And it will probably lie to you because it’s a chat bot that tries to please you!) there are millions of people mindlessly using AI and that adds up FAST.

From an environmental perspective, AI is awful. Processing text into an image uses a lot of computing power and new industrial data centers are rapidly being built around the world to handle the this. They add pollution, consume electricity, and harm nearby communities, many of which are poor.

I genuinely cannot express how vital it is that you train yourself to recognize AI-generated images and videos for your own good because none of this is going away and many, many people are counting on you to fall for their shit

My wife and I have been brushing up on US history by working through this playlist of free PBS documentaries and I really think they’re a worthwhile watch. Topics range from light to very heavy… it’s a reminder of how little of the dark stuff we learn in schools here growing up.

This is wild!!! It used to be that Blitz was the only format that fired in my area because nobody had decks for CC and the LGS’ didn’t want to accommodate the extra time. Now that it’s CC everywhere, I’ve kind of grown to miss Blitz! Managing Blitz decks became a bit of a chore, but I still had fun!

Placed an order with a singles seller in Japan, chose UPS as shipping and BAM! Tariffs are one thing but the UPS fees are WILD!

This was for a fairly expensive order to split in part with a buddy, so not all things will have this high of a fee. I just wanted to share this as an FYI and reminder!

Lately, I’ve been on Ira and Dash in CC with Marlynn also built but on standby.

Kassai, Pleiades, Meaniepants Kayo, and Lyath all seem interesting though, and I kind of want to try something new! I might be entering my Heavy Slam Super Hitters Era!
