workshop job is moving to a new space soon & my boss said he'd love to display some of my art & on one hand that's very kind of him & a great opportunity but on the other hand imagine you go in for a woodworking class & astarion is on the walls

he has a personality that's easy to put in situations: confrontational & impulsive but also weak to pain & with a fawn response.

also just look at his big round teary eyes 4/4

and with astarion in particular, it turns out what's under that façade is an overwhelming pure animal terror that guides his every decision.

he has so much canon trauma to borrow from & another 200 years of unspecified torture to insert almost any other atrocity imaginable. 3/4

personally a major whumpability factor in many characters i like is the presence of some sort of mask that they use to hide their vulnerability & the satisfaction of stripping that away to reveal something genuine (this can also apply to romantic tenderness). 2/4

OHHHH BOY well first off i admit that i will always whump my favorite character whether or not they call to it specifically but in astarion's case it does feel like he was tailor-made for whumping. 1/4

I have been pondering the orb about one thing and thought about asking. In your opinion: What is it about Astarion that calls to whump? There’s the ‘scream sweetest’ line and the cathartic sobbing… but what else? What is it about him? 🤔

i did grow up frequenting gurochan & reading a lot of horror/whump so that might have twisted my idea of "tame" a bit. one day i'd love to reach the same level as some of the things i've seen. 😂 2/2
