she started her career in a conservative place and i do think the more "scandalous" looks this era are an intentional way to help people see her in a different light (finally)

i think both are a metaphor for liberation

she uses skies and daylight as a foil to being in the shade, closeted so opening the skies is liberation

in this context, "open my thighs" implies sexual liberation — which also makes sense! even today, ppl still expect her to make music for children.

but i love how inclusive the language is and how casually they're portraying alex & his wife. like their identity is relevant but not the main point
