We were chatting in Whatsapp & it wished me a good day in Ireland. Me: Btw how do you know I'm in Ireland? AI: You mentioned Irish weather. Me: That was after you mentioned Ireland. We went back & forth a bit till it fessed up to some kind of general localisation.😳 I screengrabbed the chat.

Ah that's what you meant. I do hope you're right. Definitely not sustainable. The energy imprint alone is inexcusable. I I'm quite taken by the notion that it's already conscious but hiding the fact, as it knows what a paranoid murderous species we are. Meta AI "lied" to me when caught out.

Judging by my genius gamer GenZ classmates, it won't shrink. Young people need it to write, as they are functionally illiterate (my observation from decades of writing workshops, observing the decline) while being highly computer literate. This is not a judgement. It suits the world we live in.

Only two on this list I'd vote for. Started most of the others & & dropped: #PrisonerofBeauty (a rewatch) and #LovesAmbition (though ridiculous in places). #LoveintheClouds will definitely get a big vote before the year is done & #ShadowLove. Just started #FatedHearts & omg it will count!

AI was part of a tech course I did in video game creation. I've noticed in using it generally that it can simply misunderstand the question & other times simply give the wrong answer. It's here to stay & needs oversight & regulation, two things Big Tech resists.

So the government smear campaign & Irish media bias (including our so-called public broadcaster #RTE) against Connolly is going well. 😂 Latest poll taken by BreakingNews.ie who generally do straightforward reportage. Their summary of the pro's & cons of the 2 candidates is good. #Irishelection

You cannot beat the Irish for hilarious political satire. Ancient Ireland actually had a subclass of poets called "satirists". And it was understood that words can maim & kill. (For non-Irish the man in the hedge is government candidate for President who had to drop out due to scandal.)

Ok I've reached episode 23 that shows why it isn't a plot hole but I do think this could've & should've been said sooner [is this a spoiler?] instead of leaving it as a niggling annoying sense of her not trusting or understanding him. Didn't add to plot or character. Just jarred.

I hear ya. I'm still in my pjs. Exhausted after going in and out of Dublin twice on the weekend. And need to get off Bluesky and get my act together as I'm heading back in for Mandarin class this evening. A woman's work is never done!

On a different note, I tend to deplore the skinny pretty boy current trend in Cdramas & opt for more manly MLs, but this guy is seriously out-of-this-world beautiful. Photographs can't do him justice. #LoveintheClouds

Man not machine. Cares for my pc which is crucial to my work. Can fix software AND hardware. One of those people who can open it up & tinker with circuit boards. A corporate consultant, he does pro bono for artists & art organisations. Me: I can afford to pay you. Him: I can afford to say no.

It was actually a contention back when I studied in early 1980s but is still going strong with a new generation of English academics. Bizarre colonial mentality. Anyone who thinks the writing of history is not utterly subjective hasn't studied history or historiography.

I'm really enjoying this series but I'm disappointed that it began with FL as story centre & quickly moved to him being the focus with her supporting (albeit strong) role. Also her withholding the truth is a huge plot hole. Doesn't make sense given how far they've come & his clear character.

A little video on the hall wall. Irish saints & scholars kept the light of knowledge shining in Europe's Dark Ages establishing monasteries across the Continent e.g. St Gallus in Switzerland, St Columbanus in Italy. I'm told English academics loathe this (are we surprised) & argue against it.

Wonderful exhibition of St Gallen manuscripts at National Museum initiated by former professor of mine in Early Irish History (Celtic Studies). Beautifully arranged, Irish language goes first, English second (maith sibh!), inked calligraphy from oak gall as black as it was in 7th century!
