I am thrilled to announce that Effie Phillips-Staley - aka my better half - launched her campaign for Congress today! Effie is running as a progressive Democrat in NY’s 17th, to unseat MAGA Mike Lawler and help flip the House.

Check out her campaign site and donate!

Since 1977, the Mariners' debut season, they have won a combined four MVP and Cy Youngs. The Yankees have won nine. Given the difference in success (seven championships vs zero, .568 winning percentage vs. .478) in that span, that hardly seems unbalanced.
MVP voting is that every AL city gets awarded two votes, but somehow it's rigged in favor of the Yankees? If I had to poll the bias of the writers I know, it wouldn't come out in favor of the Yankees.
if he wasn’t a yankee he wouldn’t be mvp right now

Seems like there are just two kinds of people: those who know Trump was entangled with Epstein and are appalled and those who know Trump was entangled with Epstein and don’t care

Just noticed the NYC busses have big FARE REQUIRED signs where the route info usually goes. Soon, New York, soon.

Every time I’m satisfied with my rankings of the most vile cabinet members, something forces me to rethink it
WSJ: Fannie Mae watchdogs who were removed from their jobs had been probing if Trump appointee Bill Pulte had improperly obtained mortgage records of key Democratic officials, including New York Attorney General Letitia James.

That’s my daughter on the right, at the Mamdani/AOC/Bernie rally in Queens, sporting an Effie for Congress cap (her mother). I am surrounded by impressive women!

I’m not sure how cancelling my subscription to The New Yorker is going to *improve* the state of journalism. Pretty sure it will have the opposite effect.

Eric Adams dropped out for 6 sealed cases of Turkish Delight and front row Knicks tickets for a period not to exceed 18 months (no Jumbotron.)
They offered Curtis Sliwa $10 million dollars to drop out of the race and he said no!! Genuinely impressive. That’s principle. Gotta respect it. He would’ve turned down the Riyadh Comedy Festival, for SURE.

Am I going to get yelled at by JD Vance if I say Dick Cheney maybe wasn't such a great guy?

Legitimately surprised this guy hasn't been pardoned yet. He needs new lawyers.

I, for one, am envious of Speaker Johnson's ability to live such a carefree existence, sheltered from all the troubles of these difficult times.
“Speaker Johnson, many Americans are wondering why you’re unable to see or hear any developments in the news. Some are speculating that you were kicked in the head by a horse; others theorize that you’ve been huffing spray paint. Which is it?”

WTF?
O'DONNELL: Why did you pardon Changpeng Zhao?

TRUMP: Are you ready? I don't know who he is

O'DONNELL: His crypto exchange Binance helped facilitate a $2b purchase of World Liberty Financial's stablecoin. And they you pardoned him.

TRUMP: Here's the thing -- I know nothing about it
