This is exactly the goal. Great to hear, and thanks for the kind words. 👑
GM'd my first session of @outridercreative.bsky.social's "Perils & Princesses" last night and it was a blast, would definitely recommend! We had two party members who had never played a #ttrpg before. They picked up the rules super quickly and loved the flavor, it really couldn't have gone better.

Working out some rough stuff here with this cute hedge witch. Now I gotta actually decide what the plants around her are going to look like.

Man Alone posted a really thorough look at Perils & Princesses. It's so satisfying when you hear someone talk about your creation and you can tell that they really understand what makes it tick.

Pro tip: Sending an email addressed to the wrong name, with "I want to talk this week about a potential design gig" with zero background information will not only fail to get a response from me, I will also block you.

Heckety Peg by Audrey and Don Wood is an impeccable fairy tale.

Got Calpini by @fistfulofcrits.bsky.social in the mail last week. Impeccable atmosphere and stunning art. I wanna play it using Perils & Princesses asap.

A lot of gems right there!
December reading.

Some of this is re-reading, to be fair. A lot of this job is thumbing through games and then seeing which are the ones I can't stop thinking about

Had so much fun with this branding for Waystone Books, a bookseller and community space on the Isle of Skye, Scotland.

I'm at the point where the roles have reversed with my 13 year old. Now he's the one talking ME through video game puzzles and I hand HIM the controller when I get to a platforming or boss section that I'm stuck on. It's kind of beautiful.

I'm on the hunt for artists/illustrators that specialise in landscapes and scenery, or who love drawing nature! 🌷🏞️🌳

I'd especially love to hear from BIPOC artists, but this is an open call! Self promo welcome, please comment with examples/portfolio links if possible ☺️

Drawing pictures is one of the most fun, satisfying, challenging, beautiful things you can do. Making a terrible ugly drawing is so pure and gorgeous and human and I can't believe anyone would let a robot pretend to do that for them.

Anyone can reverse an overdose, and we should all know how. Naloxone is a social intervention; while our public health systems are woefully inadequate, and the war on drugs continues unchecked, we can empower ourselves and one another to step up.

Energy over accuracy every time. Drawing gives you the power to dig deeper than the mere appearance of a thing and convey its ESSENCE through the myriad of choices you make when creating.
The search for accuracy, especially in anatomy, is just a race to the bottom where all you get is stiff figures and mathematical looking backgrounds. Completely soulless drawing.
Anyone have a particularly hot comic take?

Initial sketch and completed illustration of this warrior princess. I really liked how the sword looked just flat black so I had to leave it.

Really wanted to dig in deep on the layers and textures for that midcentury pre-separated art look. Working on a new Gift for the Perils & Princesses TTRPG called “Glimmering Allure” a full on, deeply charming sparkle princess. Bits of Cinderella, Aurora, Giselle and Buttercup.

Just picked up a copy of "Perils & Princesses" by @outridercreative.bsky.social and it looks so fun!
