In Cologne in summer 2001 I went to a cafe west of the Altstadt that had white walls covered in large pen-writing. There was counter seating in the center where I sat down for breakfast and on the menu they had funny breakfasts like the “Stadt-Frühstück“ which was I believe a coffee and an aspirin.
