Today we were playing the same Mario Party minigame over and over, and eventually he asked me to throw so that he could win.

I gently said no.

Then he came up with a fucking genuinely brilliant plan to win: "Okay so first I throw and you win, and then you throw and I win." Genius.

I decided that when I play MKW against my 6-year old nephew I will not do the boost at the start.

I want to give him one chance before I destroy him.

He doesn't get any mercy in Mario Party though. That game is ruthless and the sooner he learns this fact about life the better for him.

It was my first game though, next time I'm gonna get him

The game progresses, and I learn the main Pokemon types: punch, fire, star, water, thunder, leaf, look, and super speed.

I become confident that I understand the rules, but after half the stack is gone I notice that somehow he has twice the points than I do.

Chat, I think this game is rigged.

Me: okay *takes card*

Nephew: *points to the type of the Pokemon* yours is punch and mine is star, I win

Me: ...okay

Nephew: *takes both cards and starts forming a stack representing his points*

Nephew (6 years old): do you want to play Pokemon cards with me?

Me (intrigued): yes of course!

Nephew: okay so I take a card and you take a card *takes a card from a single stack*

(At this point I begin to suspect that these might not be standard rules)

I wanted to make a joke by suggesting a map with a name that sounds dirty but omg I never realized how many of them kinda do (if you are in the "right" mindset)

Didn't this happen back in 2007?

PS: I'm not sure if I was clear. My point is that if the other team is not playing seriously then all those good plays become meaningless, since you don't know if you pulled them off because you did it well or because they weren't trying at all.

Taking this success away, robbing your opponent from these big little victories, dismissing them and wasting their time... It's not just rude. It's not just unsportsmanlike. It's not just insulting. It's fucking mean.
December 24, 2025 at 5:39 AM
Of course we were not gonna win any set, there was absolutely no doubt about that. But every push we stopped, every good kill we got... And don't even get me started on that one wipeout!
It was all a rush. A microscopic L for them, a gigantic W for us.

Div 1 in Splatoon, div 12 in sportsmanship.
During the Splat Vibes LAN (UK) we were waaay out of our league. We didn't win a single game, but the other teams were kind to us and had the decency to properly stomp us every single time. It felt GOOD to lose to them, we earned every good play we made!

In my opinion, you are participating in a face-to-face tournament. You are in a public forum. I found this to be incredibly rude to the lower seeded opponents.

Bad manners doesn’t inherently mean tilt and it doesn’t inherently mean gamer rage. Bad manners is treating your opponent with disrespect
