oh and graphql or gPRC **IF** it's listed in the job description. Comes up a lot with Node.js in my experience

most of my work is in Go nowadays but the general design process and workload is similar. I'd argue language specific skills are less critical 90% of the time, but potentially good to ask about in an interview what technologies they use

Node.js is single-threaded which is an important performance consideration, though typically dwarfed time-wise by network overhead

Beyond that, backend isn't toooo language dependent. Other topics to study would be REST API design, microservice architecture, and potentially working with web sockets

I do some node.js backend work, some topics I can think of off the top of my head: routing with express.js, async/await functions, JS vs TypeScript, npm, callbacks and functional programming, JSON
