Note that Alder Nugent who is one of the most vocal complainers about the encampment is nowhere to be found on building a solution.
The city plans to continue to sweep northwest side encampments, but there's no emergency shelter in that area for single unhoused Chicagoans to go to. A tentative city-state partnership is looking to change that. I wrote about it for week's Make it Make Sense:

If you intend on coming out to the park on Tuesday, Wed or Thurs, please make sure to check in with residents ahead of time about what their individual asks/needs are. Try to arrive early if you can.

Please reach out here, on insta or at [email protected] if you want to get in touch.

That being said, EVERYONE was on the same page above wanting support and being open to our presence there.

We will check in with residents tomorrow morning to see where they're at to confirm final steps for support on Tues et al.

When we had a group meeting yesterday with almost everyone at Legion, some residents were definitely expressing wanting support with defense. Some were not as sure.
Some still had questions about risk of a**est, etc.

Since this post is getting so much traction we wanted to add this note about our intentions for anyone who wants to come out:

We are not here to tell encampment residents what to do.
While all eyes are on ICE this week, the city has confirmed plans to clear an encampment of unhoused people in Legion Park early Tuesday morning.

Community advocates posted this flyer asking for support and they’ll be holding a press conf, alongside park residents, on Monday at 9am in the park.
